llms.txt generator
from your sitemap.

Enter a domain and the generator reads its sitemap, groups the pages into sections and writes a draft llms.txt in the llmstxt.org format. Edit the draft, watch the score update, then copy or download the file.

Follows the llmstxt.org proposal Drafts are built in your browser
1

Collect pages

Read a sitemap or paste URLs

The generator looks for the sitemap listed in robots.txt, then /sitemap.xml, and reads up to 500 page URLs.

What the generator does

A structured first draft, not a finished file.

Writing llms.txt by hand starts with a blank page. The generator does the mechanical part so your time goes into choosing pages and writing notes.

01

Finds your pages

Reads the sitemap named in robots.txt or at /sitemap.xml, including up to three child sitemaps of a sitemap index.

02

Groups them

Pages are grouped by their first folder, such as /docs/ or /blog/. Tag, author, feed and pagination URLs are left out.

03

Validates the result

Every edit is checked with the same rules as the llms.txt checker, so you see problems before you publish.

A practical guide

How the generator builds the draft

The output follows the order the llmstxt.org proposal fixes: a title, a summary, then sections of links.

  1. Title and summary.

The site name comes from the homepage og:site_name or <title>, and the summary from its meta description. Both fields stay editable.

  2. Sections by folder.

Each first-level folder becomes an H2 section, largest first. Top-level pages such as /pricing share a section named Pages.

  3. Links from slugs.

Link names are made from the last part of each URL, so /docs/quick-start becomes Quick start. Rename any link that reads awkwardly.

  4. Optional overflow.

After six sections, the first links of the remaining folders go into an Optional section. Review these links: a folder being smaller does not mean its pages are less important.

Editing the draft

  • Cut hard. Keep the pages that answer real questions about your product or topic, not every article.
  • Add notes. After each link, write a few words such as : Setup steps for new accounts so a reader knows when to open it.
  • Rename sections. A folder name like Kb reads better as Help center.

Publishing the file

  • Put it at the root. Upload the file as /llms.txt on the same host as your site.
  • Serve it as text. Use text/plain; charset=utf-8 and make sure the URL does not redirect to an HTML page.
  • Check it live. Run the published URL through the llms.txt checker to confirm status, content type and format.

What happens to your data

When you enter a domain, our server requests its homepage, robots.txt and sitemap with the user agent SeoVisionLlmsChecker/1.0, reads at most 2 MB per file and returns only the page URLs, the homepage title and its description. Private and internal network addresses are refused, and results are cached for ten minutes. The draft is assembled and edited in your browser. Pasted URLs never leave your device.

llms.txt generator FAQ

How do I create an llms.txt file?

Enter your domain above to build a draft from your sitemap, or paste a list of URLs. Edit the section names, cut pages that do not help a reader, add a short note after each link, then download the file and upload it to the root of your site as /llms.txt.

Does the generator write the link descriptions?

No. Link names come from URL slugs and the notes are left for you, because a useful note says when a page is the right one to read, and only you know that. The checker marks links without notes as information, not as errors.

Why are some of my pages missing?

The generator reads up to 500 URLs and up to three child sitemaps of a sitemap index, and it skips tag, category, author, feed, pagination and asset URLs. Paste the missing URLs instead if they matter.

Will an llms.txt file improve my rankings or AI citations?

Not on its own. A valid llms.txt file does not guarantee higher search rankings or citations in AI answers. Treat it as a low-cost experiment and keep investing in crawlable, well-structured pages.

Should I also publish llms-full.txt?

It is optional. llms-full.txt holds the full text of the linked pages in one Markdown file. Start with a well-curated llms.txt; add the full version only if your audience uses tools that read it.

Is the llms.txt generator free?

Yes, with no account. Sitemap results are cached for ten minutes and are not stored after that. The draft is built in your browser.
